We pray for Ukraine.

Hello, my friends! I hope you are doing really fine and nothing is worrying you. Because I have another situation and I think you know what I mean by saying that.

Ukraine is in a dangerous stay. I guess you remember my post where I was talking about the integration of Ukraine to the EU (that was in December). But now we have the end of February and the state is deteriorated: we have big disturbances in Kyiv and in many other regional centers, where radical activists are trying to dethrone our national political authority. And the main problem is probably connected with the absence of any activities from the governmental side – the control of this revolution is lost and so now it is possibly late and very hard to change the today’s plight. Here, in the Eastern Ukraine, we are not supporing the activist movement, and believe me, not the whole Ukraine is not in Kyiv crying about its rights. But the problem is common for everyone.

And I cannot overlook the journalistic part in this situation. Our mass media is always talking about this problem, this catastrophe, which came to the country, and the Internet and newspaper publications and messages from TV and radio are issuing fast, but the main question is open: where is the truth? And who is that person, which will tell us the truth?

Media have a lot of different opinions and each mass media channel has different position, so the information, which is spreading today, is one-sided in most times. This is a question of commercial, you know. And this ‘method’ works not only in national news, but even in foreign ones: everybody has his own true story, so sometimes it is hard to understand what is happening in reality. This is one of the reasons why our society is suffering – there is no lack of information but there is a huge amount of information that is not certainly true and checked. Anyway everybody is crying that today we have a big trouble: we do not know what to do and the activists seem to be unstoppable.

But let’s look back. There is a thought that the initial purpose of those activists from so-called Evromaidan was not a dethronement. Firstly they were talking about the integration and they had an enormous desire to enter the EU. And what do we have now? They want to change the President and to return the Constitution of 2004 year. As one of my groupmates said, ‘the aims are changing’, but I am wondering: maybe the aims were the same from the very beginning but it was necessary to cover the main goal with other reasons in case it would seem to be more precious? Well, who knows.

The only thing that I can say about it is: the protests are massive, the exterior influence is massive and the real necessary movements from the government are equal to zero. Our President is a poor person I think, not in financial sphere, but in moral, spiritual one. I won’t say he is good or bad, but he has a wrong strategy and he doesn’t care about his duties. It proves that he is not a real President, he doesn’t need this country. Moreover he is interested only in himself for now and the today’s situation shows that he has literally given birth to this revolution. People were fed up with the lawlessness, which was happening during the years, and so they came to the streets. Probably he didn’t hear them and they became crazy. And if some time ago they were staying for an idea (some of them!), now they are staying on principle. Eventually we have what we have. The conflict was maturing long time ago.

Now we know that the President has lost the chance to change everything as quickly as possible and not only him: the opposition is powerless as well. Obviously I am not saying that activists are right – I think now the big part of them are animals, wild madmen, who don’t know what they are doing. It is similar to fascism in some cases; it is not the proof of democracy. So in my opinion it is impossible to justify them.

So where is that leader who will be able to stop it? Or what is the secret of Ukrainian authorities? Because there are a lot of opinions about it. Nowadays a lot of people are convinced that there is something else in this dark story with Evromaidan. A lot of people suppose that everything that is happening is the result of the games behind the scenes of Russia and USA. According to the fact that they have been big contestants for long time, they use Ukraine as a victim of their resistance, in other words, Ukraine is like an apple of discord in their hands.

Some people have a diametrically opposed viewpoint. They think that a side, which is at the head of this process, is only USA and they are interested in such a revolution in Ukraine. Somebody is thinking that Europe truthfully don’t want to join our country to the union because we can ‘perform’ as a great rival for them in lots of spheres. And these are not the only hypotheses of what is going on. But no matter which of them are relevant now, we still have this problem, we feel it personally and we are suffering. People who are not guilty are suffering. People are dying without any purposes. Where the political fight is, there is a big disaster both for nation and country.

It is painful for me to talk about it, I love my country, I respect the people, but it hurts a lot, so I am not going to talk more, but I do understand that this revolution can be redoubled and then we can live even worse then now. Unless the justice will begin, we won’t have better stay. And what we can do now is to pray for Ukraine and to hope that everything will be fine.
